Nowadays in our life, there a lots of issues or problems occurred, either it is regarding to the immoral conducts of adults or children. The most critical problems happened as relating to the social problems. As we can see nowadays, there are lots of cases which related to the social problem such as baby dumping, sexual intercourse between unmarried couple, rape and like. This happened because of the unawareness of responsible persons. Here a responsible person does not mean only the responsibility of government, family members and friends but it is also the responsible of ummah or society to stop or prevent these problems from happened. We have responsibilities to lead others to the right path of life as according to the Islamic way of life. As it is stated in Al-Quran, Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 30:-
"....وَإذقال ربّك للملىئكة إنّى جاعل فى الأرض خليفةَ"
In this verse, it is clearly stated that human is created to be a Khalifah in this world. The duty of Khalifah is to encourage people the way or the path of Islam and thus practice the principle of Syariah in our life. Khalifah is similar to da'ie. The words da'ie, mad'u and da'wah seem to be similar to us but what is the meaning of these terms? Here, da'ie means a person who has practiced da'wah and who invite people to faith, prayer or Islamic life. People who are being invited and promoted to faith is called mad'u. Da'wah means "issuing the summons" and "making an invitation". Da'wah activities can take in many forms either orally, verbally or through action of the da'ie. In our modern area, there are lots of ways to communicate between people such as by using television, radio, internet and so on. These kind of communications is not wrong as long as it is followed the right way as Islam has ordered us to practice as according to the principle of Syariah Islamiah.
The word Syariah Islamiah is always crossing in our mind but what is the meaning of it? How and when it is applied in our life? Syariah is an Arabic word means 'the way', 'the flow' and 'the straight path'. Literally, Syariah means a number of laws which are permissible by Allah to His Servants in various aspects of life for the sake of happiness in this world and also in the Hereafter. Thus, Syariah is related with Islamic Law, called as Syariah Islamiah. It is the rule that govern the lives of humanity, either to Muslim or non-Muslim. However, Syariah is more important to Muslim life as it is contained the comprehensive and complete guidance for human life in this world and the Hereafter.
Syariah Islamiah is enforced as according to the Al-Quran and Sunnah Prophet S.A.W as both contained various orders, commands and examples of right and also bad life of the previous people. Its also contained about the precious life of our Prophet S.A.W as it is the best example of life to Muslim. Syariah contained several fields of knowledge which are important for human beings to know about it. It is consisted the fields of Tauhid, Akidah, Ibadah, Akhlak and Tasawuf.
In order to lead our life into Islamic way of life, we also need to know about the purpose of this principle. The main purpose of Syariah is to achieve the objective of Maqasid Syariah. Under Maqasid Syariah, it is provided with several protections as to safeguard the interest of human life and it is for the human to protect them from being involved in situations which can destroy their life. There are five protections provided under Maqasid Syariah which are the protection of religion, self protection, protection of state of mind ('aql), protection of descendants and protection of property. These protections are related to each other as a Muslim need to protect himself and also his 'aql from the bad things in order to protect his religion which is Islam, his property and descendants. Therefore a Muslim must has courage and spirit in order to enforce Syariah in his life and acjieve the objective of Maqasid Syariah for him to be in the right path of Islamic life. Thus, his life will be in safe and in the blessing of Allah as he follows the guidance of Al-Quran and Sunnah Prophet S.A.W.
